Official Opening of new Outdoor Area

Official Opening of new Outdoor Area

Local Hope Charity members with the Headteacher

Boston Endeavour Academy (BEA) has officially opened a new outdoor learning area.

We have been fundraising to begin establishing a specified Forest School area for the children so they can benefit from:

  • Improved confidence, social skills, language and communication, motivation, and concentration.
  • Better physical health through exercise and learning how to use or strengthen muscles to improve mobility.
  • Improved mental health through a sense of purpose and achievement.
  • The opportunity to connect with others – reducing feelings of isolation.
  • Acquiring new skills to improve the chances of finding employment.

Aaron Bloodworth-Flatt, Headteacher of Boston Endeavour Academy said:

“This project has been a long time in the making. We are absolutely thrilled to be officially opening the new outdoor learning area today. This brand-new space will give the current pupils at the school a safe space to develop communication, social skills, problem-solving and decision making (as well as all the children who will attend the school in later years).

We would like to especially thank the Local Hope Charity based in Boston for their huge donation towards the project. This has given the children access to a large wooden outdoor classroom (for when the weather isn’t so kind), a superb wooden gazebo for outdoor learning, and the purchase of matting to create a pathway throughout the Forest School.

We would also like to thank the Medlock Charitable Trust and the CLA Charitable Trust, who’s kind donations meant we could complete all the groundworks for the outdoor classroom and install all of the matting throughout the area.

I would also like to say a special thank you to our school PTA, who work so hard to support the pupils. Their work towards this project has been phenomenal.”

Local Hope are a community-focused charity based in Boston. Hazel Marsh, from the charity, officially opened the Forest School, along with many of her Local Hope colleagues. Also in attendance was the school’s Chair of the Governors, Craig Johnson.

The pupil’s enjoyed showing the guests around their new outdoor area and then talking them through what happens during their Forest School lessons.

Hazel Marsh from Local Hope added:

“We have had a wonderful time visiting the school today. It’s been amazing to see all the children and how much of a difference the Forest School is going to make to them.”
